Nutrition as Part of Your Integrative Care

Nutrition plays a vital role in supporting energy, resilience, and overall well-being during cancer treatment, but it is just one piece of a larger picture. At Integrative Care, I never treat nutrition in isolation. Instead, it is integrated with other supportive strategies, including herbal medicine, lifestyle adjustments, and symptom management, so that every recommendation is personalised, practical, and safe alongside your medical treatment.

Sensible, Individualised Guidance

Every person’s nutritional needs are unique. Weight, weight changes, and appetite are critical factors when assessing how best to support someone through treatment. I focus on sensible, realistic strategies that maintain energy and nutritional intake without overwhelming the patient. Plans are designed to fit your treatment schedule, preferences, and lifestyle so that the support is sustainable and achievable.

Evidence-Informed Approach

All nutritional guidance is grounded in credible research. I provide guidance that aims to support:

  • maintaining energy and weight
  • stabilising blood sugar and digestion
  • optimising nutrient intake during treatment
  • supporting immune resilience
  • reducing treatment-related discomfort

When Nutrition Support Is Limited

Some situations, such as cancer-related cachexia or severe, rapid weight loss, require specialised medical interventions. I do not treat cachexia. If I determine that your nutritional needs exceed the scope of safe, integrative support, I will guide you to your GP, oncologist, or specialist dietitian for further assessment and management.

Nutrition in Context

Nutrition is never a “cure” or a standalone therapy. Its purpose is to support your body and mind as part of a broader integrative plan. When combined with herbal medicine, lifestyle support, and symptom management, it can help you tolerate treatment better, recover more smoothly, and feel more in control of your wellbeing.

Why Personalisation Matters

Generic diets or rigid protocols rarely work, and following them can even be counterproductive. Every plan is personalised to your needs, goals, and treatment stage, with adjustments made as your situation changes. This ensures that your nutritional strategy is safe, supportive, and practical, rather than overwhelming or restrictive.
